Review: Steam Whistle Handy Can

The lovely team at Steam Whistle Brewing delivered their a 6-pack of Steam Whistle Handy Can beers (355 mL cans) – a great example of the brewery’s always refreshing Pilsner – just in time for the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Since I’m a fan of lighter ales, lagers and Pilsners, this was truly perfect timing.

The cans are perfect as they keep the beer from getting spoiled in sunlight and also prevent any breakage. A can is easier to drop than a bottle of beer (oh the tragedy of spilling good beer on a long weekend! insert sarcasm here).

The six Steam Whistle cans are now sold in a stylish and very smart carton case, retailing $14.50 in Ontario Beer Stores. We like the sturdy handle and end panels ensuring that no can escapes even if you swing the carton.
Best of all, the beer tastes great on a hot day.

Where we can see ourselves taking this 6-can handy pack is:

  • Pool parties/backyard get-togethers/cottage visits/BBQs
  • Picnics (in locations where alcoholic beverages are permitted)
  • Camping
  • As a host/hostess gift
  • Our backyard patio!

This summer, if you’re in British Columbia, keep an eye out for Steam Whistle’s Retro Electro – a vintage hot rod that uses 100 per cent green electricity. It’s a 1958 Chevy Apache Pickup, that has been retrofitted to ensure that it has the power needed for today’s roads and traffic but using BC’s Bullfrog Power to be truly green.
