This year has been one of much travel – both locally and farther afield. Thinking back on some of my favourite places I’ve drawn up a brief list of the top five places I visited this year and truly enjoyed. Here are a few of the highlights.
5. Killarney Provincial Park
Killarney Provincial Park is beautiful. Our hike at Chikanishing Trail was one of the highlights. It was an exhausting walk up and down rocks (with the wrong shoes to boot) on a hot day, but the scenery was so worth it.
4. Crawford Lake Conservation Area
I’ve visited Crawford Lake many times over the years, but this year this conservation area was extra special. In August, Frank proposed to me by the lake during an early morning hike.
3. Vancouver, British Columbia
The last time I was in Vancouver before this year’s visit was back in 1996. The city has changed much but the one thing that doesn’t change are the mountains. They are as breathtaking as ever.
2. Calgary, Alberta
My first-ever visit to Calgary happened in March – not the best month to visit this city. Nevertheless, I took in the sights, walking along Stephen Avenue.
1. Amsterdam, The Netherlands
While I’ve been to several countries in Europe, it was my first time visiting the exciting city of Amsterdam. It lived up to its reputation of a vibrant place, teeming with history, an amazing night life and wonderful art.
