Travel Gear Review: Ridlen Boots from Aldo

I love comfortable footwear for days when I’m playing urban or suburban tourist. For the days when I’m not hitting the trails, roomy boots with a decent tread, and enough space for my toes are a must-have.

Recently, I purchased a pair of Ridlen boots from Aldo ($140) to replace an old pair of boots that I’ve had for many years. Walking around downtown Toronto today to break these boots in, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are and their lightness. The upper is a soft leather. A side zipper means I don’t have to play around with the laces – just lace them up once and go!

While quite comfortable for a couple hours of walking, the only thing that would make these boots 100% awesome would be better arch support. This can be easily remedied by an inexpensive arch-support or light gel insole that can be purchased at a shoe repair show or a pharmacy.

Easily worn under a pair of jeans, these military-inspired boots will also pair nicely with black tights and a skirt for a casual look.

I’ll be taking these boots on my trip to Amsterdam this fall!
