Summer Events: Ribfests near Toronto

Juicy, succulent… fall off the bone… savoury and spicy ribs will soon be here. Ontario Ribfests are an annual tradition that can’t be ignored, if you are a carnivore like me.  With several ribfests near Toronto over the summer period, you have more than one opportunity to enjoy great food.

With summer vacations and escapes on everybody’s mind, for those who want to go to at least one Ribfest, it’s good to plan ahead. I’ve pulled together a list of ribfests in and around the Toronto area with 2015 dates.

Most are organized by Rotary Clubs in support of local organizations. I’m buying toothpicks and stocking up on mini-towelettes before I head out to the Mississauga and Burlington Ribfests. Hope to see you there!

Tips for a Great Ribfest Experience

  • If you aren’t a fan of crowds or waiting in long lines, I recommend being an early bird and getting to the ribfest before it opens.  Bring a friend and split up to cover all BBQ trucks you want to try out.
  • Bring a few bags with you to hold your various containers. I reuse shopping bags.
  • Wet napkin packages are your best friend if you plan to eat on-site. Bring extras to have on hand for a quick clean up.

Are you planning to attend a ribfest this year? Which one will you be going to? Did I miss any other ribfests near Toronto that you think should be on this list?

  1. It is a wonderful time of the year here in Ontario, I love walking into Ribfests and instantly smelling the Hickory and Fruit Woods smell from the Smoking meats.

And of course the adult beverages and ongoing music makes for wanting to stay the entire day.

Thanks for posting a link to my 2012 Ribfest Schedule…. It is very much appreciated :-)

  2. The Beach BBQ and Brews Festival in the Beach a couple weeks ago was fun :)

  3. We had the best time at the Brantford Ribfest in 2014 and are planning to return every year.

  4. Milton Aug 21-23.

  5. Had a great time at the Burlington Ribfest a few years ago – very cool to just see a field with so many huge rib stalls. Went to Guelph last year – smaller but well run, and they had some fun cover bands playing.

  6. Brantford Ribfest ~ August 7-9, 2015.
