I recently saw a post about the Graydon Skincare company, based out of Toronto. What intrigued me was that it has several skincare products for rosacea-prone skin, like mine. And so I was very excited to try out and share this Graydon Skincare review with others who might be dealing with the same condition.

I’ve inherited rosacea from my mom. She also suffers from it and like her, it came on in my 30s. I noticed it when I all of a sudden became red in the face after one glass of wine.

What’s Rosacea?

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition that affects the face – mostly the cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Sometimes eyes can be affected, with a bloodshot look and gritty feeling.

It comes on at first as intermittent blushing or flushing, particularly when you are hot, have had alcohol or spicy foods. For me, it’s heat and alcohol that does it.

More recently, my rosacea has included super tiny pus-filled bumps on my skin that make it feel rough. It affects people differently, however in Canada approximately 3 million Canadians are dealing with rosacea.

There currently is no way of eliminating rosacea, so you just have to deal with it and make changes in your lifestyle. For me, this means limiting alcohol and making sure I keep cool.

In terms of make-up, I try to cover up any flare ups whenever I can, but also use foundation and powder sparingly in order to reduce the visibility of those rough little pimples.

As my skin is also sensitive and after having my little boy, it’s also drier than normal. Many mainstream skin products can also irritate my skin. This is why I lean towards natural products with as few weird ingredients as possible. And this is why I was excited to try out Graydon Skincare products, including those for rosacea-prone skin.

Releasing the Power of Plants: Graydon Skincare Review

Graydon Skincare products are made with plant ingredients, carefully selected and blended to produce the best results. Graydon Moffat, the woman behind the brand, is a proponent of natural plant ingredients that nourish and protect skin. She works with Canadian growers and suppliers to ensure she gets the best ingredients possible.

In creating this line of superfood skincare, the focus of my work is to leverage the transformative power of pure plant-based ingredients to create products that are as effective and luxurious as any mainstream luxury brand.

I’m liking this already… and taking a look at the ingredients in the product samples I received from the company, I’m impressed. So on to the Graydon Skincare review!

Graydon Skincare Aloe Milk Cleanser

Graydon Skincare Aloe Milk Cleanser (CAD $28.00) is ideal for removing makeup and other skin impurities while also lightly moisturizing. The key ingredients include perilla seed oil to retain moisture, aloe vera to sooth the skin, and pink grapefruit, geranium and blood orange essential oil blend to uplift and tone.

Love: It’s super-light and works effectively. It does well removing eye-makeup without leaving too much residue and greasiness behind. Makes you feel like you’ve bathed your face in a light milk cream with a aloe scent.

Con: You need more than one or two pumps to get enough on your hand for properly cleaning your face.

Graydon Skincare The Putty

Graydon Skincare - Graydon Skincare Putty

The Graydon Skincare The Putty (CAD $38.00) is made with a blend of oils that soothe dry, red irritated skin.  It includes Babassu powder making the skin soft and velvety feeling and matte. As well it has Buriti for restoring moisture to dry skin, and Turmeric to fight bacteria and flare-ups with it’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: I found this cream to be rich and super soft on my skin. After applying it, I felt like my skin had just been at a luxury spa facial treatment. The redness went down after a few minutes. The cream doesn’t feel greasy, and it remained nice and smooth more than 15 minutes later which is perfect.

Con: Slight scent that’s a touch strong at first, but it fades pretty fast.

Graydon Skincare Superfood Mask & Scrub

Graydon Skincare Review

The Graydon Skincare Superfood Mask & Scrub (CAD $39.00) comes in tiny capsules containing a pre-portioned amount of superfoods aiming to “nourish, brighten and smoothing your face.” The ingredients includes items such as matcha green tea, white willow bark, shiitake mushroom, activated charcoal, Vitamin C, Chia Seed, licorice root, a probiotic blend and hyaluronic acid.

It can be blended with water or with the cleanser (personally recommend this method for smoother application). You gently massage it on your skin and keep it on for a few minutes or as long as you like before rinsing it off.

Love: After using it with the cleanser, I found my skin feeling refreshed, as if a layer of death skin was removed. There’s a slight scent of cinnamon as well, which is lovely.

Cons: If you use it with water, keep the ratio of liquid lower, otherwise it ends up too runny on your skin. I found using a few pumps of the cleanser to activate it to be easier to keep it from splashing all over the sink and off my face.

The Verdict: Graydon Skincare Review

After adding the products to my daily skincare routine for a few days, I find my skin looking and feeling more supple. The redness is slightly less evident. As I’ve mentioned before, I find natural skincare products to be less harsh on my skin. In the case with Graydon Skincare products, it’s because they don’t use chemicals, parabens and sulfates.

Getting up close and personal with my pores! No make-up – just my slightly rosy skin after a few treatments with Graydon Skincare products. It’s much smoother than before. Personally, I LOVED The Putty. As a moisturizer it worked wonders on my dry skin without making it break out after a day or so.

If you want to try at least one Graydon Skincare product, I would recommend the Aloe Milk Cleanser. It’s a good way to introduce yourself to the brand.
