I admit I’m not a fan of ironing. For many years I’ve tried to avoid it like the plague. But I think that might change. When I was approached to give a CHI Electronic Iron review, I thought to myself, I’ll give it another chance. I was pleasantly surprised. And you’ll learn why.

The first thing you should know, we have a serviceable iron that works fine. It gets hot and does its job.

But technology when it comes to irons has moved ahead. As such, this is why I was pleased to try out the CHI Electronic Iron for this review.

Key Features Of The CHI Electronic

CHI Electronic Iron Review - titanium plate

CHI is best known for producing steam flat irons with titanium-infused ceramic soleplate technology.

If you’re big into stylish, super functional hair styling products, you’ve definitely heard of this brand.

The company has used the same technology to create it’s CHI Electronic Iron, with high performance married with a sleek look. It’s style and function in one iron.

This iron is part of its CHI Steam line-up of irons, their home products that are based on the great tech they’ve used for their hair products.

The unit has:

  • Powerful steam from 300 steam holes and 1700 watts of power – wrinkles are gone smooth and fast
  • A fabric guide that lets you choose the fabric type, so that the steam iron sets the right temperature for you – no guesswork!
  • A steam lever that you can adjust so that you can go from no steam to full power – in one slide.
  • The titanium-infused ceramic soleplate is durable and scratch-resistant.
  • A sleek design, and matte features that make it a stylish addition to your laundry room.
  • A 10′ cord, making it easy to reach across your ironing board

With all of these bells and whistles, I was very curious to see how it would stand up to a straight forward ironing job. I wasn’t disappointed!

My CHI Electronic Iron Review

For my CHI Electronic Iron review, I tested it out on a super-wrinkly cotton tablecloth after Christmas-time. It had been in a regular wash and air-dried, so it was a bit stiff.

A few things I noticed very quickly:

  • Pouring the water into the iron is super easy, as it has a guiding spout.
  • The steam is POWERFUL… when you shoot it out, it really SHOOTS out.
  • It’s light! Despite the titanium plate, the unit is fairly light and doesn’t tire you out with repeated motion.
  • It’s fast at heating up and does a quick job of removing wrinkles with the steam and heat.
Chi Electronic iron - steam function while ironing

I had my tablecloth done in about FIVE minutes, where normally it would take me about double with my old iron.

The CHI Electronic Iron certainly does speed things up with that great steam tech. Stylish and functional, it’s a winner.

Tablecloth Ironing Tip

Want to know a little secret to a wrinkle-free tablecloth at the end of your ironing? I learned this from my mom and my grandmother. They were always ironing tablecloths, whether for home use or those used on the altar at church.

They perfected this smart way of ironing without re-wrinkling long tablecloths.

Here are the steps. All you need extra is a chair to drape the tablecloth on while you iron away.

  1. I fold the tablecloth in half, because, it’s OK to have the seam in the middle. I just don’t press too hard to set that seam.
  2. Start by ironing the material and bringing it towards you.
  3. Once you’ve reached the end of the tablecloth, flip it around and iron so that the cloth is moving away from you. have a chair or two available to drape the nicely ironed cloth on so it doesn’t puddle on the ground below your ironing board.
  4. Voila! Fold once you’re done and you’re ready to go.

I’ve made it a bit easier for you!
