When youโre feeling relaxed and prepared for whatโs to come, Sunday night can become your favourite night.
Between work, a side hustle business and family commitments (with a little kid), Iโve got several things Iโm juggling on a regular basis.
I could have a whole list of things you can do with a Sunday night routine, but I want to make it easier for you. These are some tips that I use to prevent the anxiety and stress that can take over.

Five Tips For A Sunday Night Routine: Relax And Prep For The Week
These are activities that I do for a relaxing Sunday evening, to prepare my mind and my body for the week ahead.
Perhaps some of these tips will help you tackle the challenges that Monday and the rest of the week bring.
1. Prepare Your Weekly To Do List On Sunday Night
What are your priorities for the week?
Your Sunday night routine should include time to write down a to-do list of the most important activities at home and work.
For example, paying your bills, putting in your expenses at work, or tackling an issue that is a top priority.
When you write things down on paper youโre consciously thinking things through.
Having a roadmap or checklist of key activities ensures that you donโt forget anything important.

2. Figure Out What To Wear On Monday
Itโs hard to get out of bed on a Monday morning. I inevitably want to sleep in.
One way to sneak in an extra 10 minutes of sleep is to prepare what youโll wear the night before.
I take a few minutes on Sunday to pull out my outfit for Monday and hang it in my walk-in closet.
SMART TIP: If something needs to be laundered for Monday, youโve got the time on Sunday evening to do one load. Consider adding what you need for Tuesday and Wednesdayโs outfits to save time on weeknights.
3. Make It Self-Care Sunday
One of the easiest ways to have a relaxing Sunday evening is to focus on yourself and give yourself some self-love.
Havenโt had time to do your nails all week?
Give yourself a pedicure and massage lotion on your legs.
Take a long bubble bath or a longer shower.
A relaxing Sunday evening for me is doing a skincare routine, or trimming my nails. Sometimes itโs a pedicure or just a bit of Gua Sha and facial massages.
Itโs also time to slow down a bit and enjoy a bit of the hygge lifestyle: reading, and enjoying a cup of tea while cozy under a weighted blanket โ we love the Zonli ones.
Whatever you do as part of your self-care Sunday night routine, make it something that will relax you.
TIP: A shower or bubble bath is the perfect way to calm your body for a good nightโs rest.

4. Do Gentle Stretches Or Yoga On Sunday Night
Did you have a busy weekend that taxed you physically?
Gardening, hiking, cleaning the house or cooking up a storm: these and other physical activities can lead to sore, tense muscles.
Add the stress of the coming week and youโre bound to get a poor sleep.
I like to do gentle stretches that loosen up those tense muscles. Yoga is one of the ways you can do so.
There are also cortisol-reducing exercises you can do. Check out โThe Workout Witchโ โ I found her via Instagram and love her easy, stress-reducing exercise courses.
5. Read Old School Using A Real Book
Ditch the iPad or e-Book reader. I know itโs easy to rely on digital books, but having a real book in your hands is much better.
Less blue light!
Itโs a great time to pick up a classic novel or a book with quotes and affirmations.
6. A Relaxing Sunday Evening Watching TV: A Few Tips
While itโs not the best idea to watch too much TV before bedtime if you must, here are some of my favourite Sunday night TV series to watch:
- Midsomer Murders โ something about British accents and small-town murders can put one to sleep
- BBC productions of classic historical dramas
- Foreign TV shows: try watching Love in Chains in Ukrainian or any of the Russian historical dramas on Tubi. Theyโre bound to lull you to sleep with their melodic cadences.

7. Treat Yourself To Fresh Bedding
Before we wrap this post up, I want to share one smart tip that will make it a relaxing Sunday night:
Fresh sheets and bedding!
Itโs important to switch your sheets and bed linens regularly. Sunday afternoon before evening hits is the perfect time to do this. You can even run a load of laundry before bed.
One thing you may want to invest in is a weighted blanket or a cooling comforter (if youโre dealing with menopausal hot flashes or are a hot sleeper).
Weโve got a Zonli Z-Cooling Comforter thatโs light, made of bamboo and Japanese-tech cooling fabrics and is smoother than silk.
We use it during warmer months and it makes for a soothing sleep.
TIP: Declutter your bedside table to reduce your anxiety and stress. Having a mess around your bed can keep you from relaxing.

These tips are right on! Thereโs nothing better than an all day self-care Sunday followed by climbing into a bed filled with fresh, scented sheets! Makes Monday so much easier to tolerate!
These are great tips! I love reading from an actual book in bed in the evening. I find it is very relaxing. Oh, and Midsomer Murders is one of my favorites!
Fresh bedding, a good book, and some self-care!! An amazing Sunday night :)
I know – right? So simple, but how many times do we actually do this?
YAY! Another Midsomer Murders fan! Can’t wait for the next season.
YES! Tell me about it. Ending off the weekend right is a gamechanger.
YES! I love these. I religiously do number 1- planning my week on Sunday. It seems to make the week go better when I have a clear idea of what all needs to be done and when I’m doing it (roughly). I love the fresh sheets idea. I think I will add that to my Sunday routine. Start the week FRESH!
I really like this approach to organizing the week ahead on Sunday night. It’s practical and sets up the week for success. Preparing a to-do list, figuring out what to wear, and dedicating time for self-care not only streamline my weekdays but also allow me to start each week feeling prepared and relaxed. This routine truly helps in managing time effectively and reducing weekly stress. I also love Sundays to take a break from Social Media unless I am watching a good movie!
Great idea on fresh bedding. I typically make sure this is done especially on Sundays.
It’s great to have it on a schedule, but the Sunday night fresh sheets thing is a gamechanger for us. Makes it much more soothing!
Gives you the sense of being in control and ready to take on challenges, right?
GREAT idea – no social media Sundays.. love it!
Glad to inspire!
