Summer Sipping with Two Oceans Moscato Wine

Can I tell you how much I love Spring and the early Summer period? The temperatures are perfect for sitting on a backyard patio or deck and enjoying a glass of wine. The Canadian PR agency representing South African wine brand Two Oceans reached out to me with the opportunity to review Two Oceans Moscato wine – what perfect timing to #SipOnSummer!

The lovely media kit including a little chalkboard to write down our thoughts when we take our first few sips.

Moscato wines, made out of muscat grapes, are sweet – as sweet as most blush Zinfandels that are popular for easy sipping. The Two Oceans Moscato comes in a pale lemon yellow and on first sniff you get a strong floral and peachy aroma. It smells super juicy.  While it’s not an overly expensive wine ($9.95 at the LCBO for a 750 ml bottle), Two Oceans Moscato does what it needs to do – as my father-in-law says, it’s easy drinking for anybody and everybody. No extensive wine knowledge required.

I sampled the wine with my father-in-law (who likes blush wines and sweet Zinfandels) and my husband. Taking my first taste in the large, branded glass, I noticed a few things: it goes down very easily, it’s sweet with just the right amount of fresh acidity, and is delicate on the palate. We noticed a peach aroma that is very pleasing and hints of fruit in the aftertaste.

While it normally is paired with chicken and other white meat dishes, salads, fish and seafood, we had it as a dessert wine with a slice of peach pie. Delicious!

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

Colour: Brilliant and clear with green tinges.

Bouquet: Floral and fruity with a slight muskiness, reflecting the characteristic aromas of the grape varieties that make up the blend.

Taste: Crisp, fresh and fruity with a pleasant sweet aftertaste of ripe pears.

Best enjoyed while still young and fresh – so don’t wait too long to crack one open this summer!

Suburban Tourist did not receive any compensation for this post – a sample bottle was sent with the media kit for review. All thoughts are my own, with the exception of the winemaker’s notes.
